The Body-Solid Endurance B27 Upright Bike is indeed one solid looking piece of equipment that could last forever and that could be the reason why it has a very good warranty. Aside from it been durable it has got other features that would appeal to you and of course some drawbacks as well.
Just a quick heads up, the console sucks for a bike of this level; it does not have many functions one will ordinarily expect. There is a couple of other things we expected to see on this bike that is absent, but we shall come to all of that in due course of this review.
First thing first, let’s start by looking at the positive side this unit, shall we?
Like we expected, the Body-Solid Endurance B2U has one of the best frames in terms of durability and sturdiness. This is a general agreement that has no dispute about it. The frame is made of thick steel bars, coated with corrosion resistant paint that is meant to prevent rust and the only plastic material around it would be the side covers for the drive and resistance. These also give it a neat and a compact look.
Due to the fact that this unit is not a very large machine but a compact one, it will be fine in small apartment/room with of course some extra feet clearance around it. Its size is about 41’’ Length and 24’’ width. Remember how we said it is sturdy? This is so because of its weight; it weighs about 121 pounds which is equivalent to 55kg, therefore, the weight partly contributes to its sturdiness. An issue like wobbling while working out won’t be an issue not even when you engage in an intense prolong workout because it is adequately grounded. Another element that further improves the stability and sturdiness of this machine is its rear adjustable stabilizers.
But then, there could be a problem; that is when trying to relocate the machine because a machine of that weight not everyone will find it funny moving. However, that too has been taken care of because there are transport wheels on the front base that makes relocation a lot easier. The whole weight will be reduced when you press the handlebars down and have it lean on its transport wheels.
Although, it is recommended to use a bike heavy duty mat to avoid ruining your floor because of its weight.
The B2U has got a relatively large seat that is designed to offer comfort while exercising. This is very important because the amount of comfort you get from your machine also determines how long you can go with your workout session. Therefore, the seat on this unit is pretty large and different from the ones obtainable from most other upright bikes. It well cushioned but extra gel seat cover could be used to further improve the comfort of the seat. The only thing with the seat is that you can only adjust it upward or downward but unlike the Nautilus U616 upright bike it has no option for fore/aft adjustment which is necessary for finding a perfect and comfortable sitting position.
It has a multi-grip design handlebar but lacks the ability to adjust like the Schwinn MY16 130 Upright Bike even though the latter is far affordable than the former. The handlebar is covered with a foam material that would be gentle on the hand when gripped on and has the heart rate monitor sensors embedded in it on the lower part.
The console is where we think that the manufacturer has failed woefully. If they could amend and redesign it, it will surely give a lot of credibility to the unit. Given the price this unit is being sold at it has a mediocre and basic console that even a cheaper upright bike such as the Schwinn 170 Upright Bike has far better console and functionality.
It has basic function of displaying workout data such as the time, distance, speed, calories burned and heart rate just like the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B2605 Upright Bike. It is very easy to operate as there are no much of a function except four buttons for MODE, +, -, and RESET. What the MODE button does is that it enables you to put the SCAN function ON/OFF. If you choose to put the SCAN ON, that means the console will display automatically your workout data one at a time for several seconds before it shifts to another workout data display, but when on the OFF MODE, then you will be able to decide which of the workout data you want to display constantly.
You will also be able to set up a countdown of any of the workout data. This allows you to track your progress setting up a countdown by using the +, or -, button. For instance, if you wish to burn a certain amount of calories or cover a certain distance all you have to do is to use the countdown to help you know when you have accomplished that. And obviously, the RESET button is used to clear any previous value or sort of refresh the console.
The monitor/console can be switched ON by pedaling or by pressing the RESET button and it will go OFF automatically when the unit is inactive for few minutes.
It works with two AA batteries to function.
The Body-Solid Endurance B2U has a belt drive system that does not require maintenance like greasing and this type of drive system is usually quieter in operation. This unit is particularly great for those that have concerns about noise, not wanting to disturb the family or neighbors while working out. It has a balanced flywheel (which is also believed to be about 24 pounds in weight) that promotes consistent and smooth motion. One thing is certain though, the flywheel is heavier than what is available in another upright bike of its category.
The unit has also got the sturdiest crankset that is made solid with steel material and can support user maximum weight of up to 400 pounds even in a standing pedaling workout position, but that being said, you should remember that this bike is not a spin bike but an upright and therefore was not designed or encouraged to work out while standing because this could cause make the drive system to damage over time.
The pedals are self-leveling made of good material and also has the standard thread which makes it easier to replace because it could be found almost in any bike store.
The B2U Bike has got about 15 levels of manual resistance. The resistance system is made of magnetic brake that is connected to the tension dial below the console and does not need the power to be able to function. You can easily adjust the resistance by twisting the tension dial clock or anti-clockwise depending on what you intend to achieve. For harder and challenging workout you have to twist the tension clockwise or otherwise, you have to twist anti-clockwise.
It resistance levels has you covered in what you intend to achieve, be it a warm-up workout or a very challenging workout. It is great for folks with disabilities, beginners and of course advanced users.
The B2U is a perfect tool for weight loss, to tone muscles and improve strength and endurance.

Shipping, Assembly, and Maintenance
The shipping cost of the Body-Solid Endurance B2U depends on where you are purchasing the unit from but for more information on Amazon’s shipping rates and policies please click right here.
As for assembly, it is pretty easy to assemble the unit even though there are complaints that the instruction manual is not clear and relevant as to how to assemble it, we only hope they have corrected that anomaly. However, that will not deter you from being able to assemble it because it comes with most of its major components preassembled. Therefore, you only have to worry about assembling the seat, base tube, the console stand, pedals, the tension wire plus the knob, the console and of course the handlebar. In all, these should take about an hour more or less depending on the individual’s dexterity.
When it comes to maintaining this unit, there is no much to be done only to make sure that you keep it clean at all times and periodically check for any loose bolts that may need to be retightened and that’s it.
When talking about the Body-Solid Endurance B2U, the first thing that comes to mind is durability. It is indeed a strong and a durable upright that is well constructed. It has a very good resistance system that could help you achieve your fitness goals no matter your user level. You can burn calories geared to losing weight to muscle toning and endurance training.
However, as you may have already read the review, it has some drawbacks ranging from it having a basic console to not having entertainment feature and more.
